According to the public relations department of Documentary & Experimental Film Center (DEFC), Shahabeddin Adel, born on September 19, 1954, in Dezful, is a photographer, documentary filmmaker, researcher, cinema and photography professor, and a member of Cinema and Theater Faculty at the University of Art.
Adel earned his bachelor's degree in cinema from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and pursued his master's and doctoral degrees in art research at the University of Art. He has a rich background in capturing memorable moments in Iranian cinema, working on films such as "A Little Stranger" directed by Bahram Beizayi, "Survivor" directed by Seifollah Daad, "The Girl with Sneakers" directed by Rasoul Sadr-Ameli, and "Shoukran" and "Gavkhouni" directed by Behrouz Afkhami, as well as "Iranian-Style Marriage" directed by Hassan Fathi.
Adel has also been involved in the selection and judging processes of various film festivals and student competitions.
In addition to his work in photography and documentary filmmaking, Shahabeddin Adel has authored numerous articles and books. He is among the instructors of workshops at the seventeenth "Cinema Verite" Festival, alongside Mehrdad Oskouei and Farhad Varahram.
The seventeenth International Documentary Film Festival in Iran, "Cinema Verite," under the directorship of Mohammad Hamidi Moghadam, is scheduled to take place from December 18 to 23 at Tehran’s Charsou Cineplex.
