In the seventeenth edition of the Cinema Verite International Documentary Film Festival in Iran, esteemed director Mehrdad Oskouei is set to lead a workshop on "Remote Documentary Filmmaking."
As outlined by the Public Relations Office of Documentary & Experimental Film Center (DEFC), the educational workshops of the seventeenth Cinema Verite festival will include the participation of both Iranian and international experts, covering various thematic areas within the realm of cinema verite.
Mehrdad Oskouei, a seasoned filmmaker with an impressive body of work, has been appointed as one of the distinguished instructors for this year's workshops.
Born in Tehran in 1969, Oskouei completed his academic journey at Department of Cinema and Theater of Tehran University of Fine Arts. In 2010, he was honored with the title of cultural person of the year by the Prince Claus Awards Committee in the Netherlands. Additionally, during the same year, the Iranian Documentary Filmmakers Association bestowed upon him a prestigious lifetime achievement award during a ceremony at the House of Cinema awards ceremony, recognizing his extensive contributions to the field of documentary filmmaking.
Oskouei has directed notable documentaries, including "Sunless Shadows," "Starless Dreams," "The Last Days of Winter," "It's Always Late for Freedom," "Nose, Iranian Style," and more.
The seventeenth Cinema Verite International Documentary Film Festival, curated by Mohammad Hamidi Moghadam, is scheduled to take place at Tehran's Charsou Cineplex from December 18 to 23, 2023.
