The 15th edition of the Iran International Documentary Film Festival also known as “Cinema Verite" has announced the jury members of short and mid-length competition sections.
The jury members are as follows:
Hanna Polak/ Poland
Polish director, cinematographer and producer. For her short documentary film, The Children of Leningradsky, about a community of homeless children living in the Leningradsky station in Moscow, she was nominated for an Academy Award and an Emmy Award. In 2003, she was awarded Best Producer of Documentary Movies at the Kraków Film Festival for Railway Station Ballad. She is lecturing about documentary filmmaking at the universities around the world.
Miguel Ribeiro / Portugal
Miguel Ribeiro studied Science of Communication, in the New University of Lisbon. Joined Doclisboa – International Film Festival in 2012 as programmer and consultant and also he forms part of the direction of Doclisboa. He is also currently a member of the executive board of Apordoc - The Portuguese Documentary Association.
Through several collaborations, Miguel has developed a series of curatorial programmers between film, performance and visual arts and is a regular presence in panels, talks and festival juries.
Mohammad Reza Abbasian/ Iran
Documentary filmmaker and producer and winner of the trophy for the best documentary for the film «Qana» from the 10th Iranian Cinema Celebration.
He also won the Silver Sword at the Polish Historical Film Festival for the documentary «School». Abbasian was also the director of the 30th Fajr Film Festival.
He has made numerous documentaries in critical areas around the world in Nagorno-Karabakh, Bosnia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Kosovo. He has also won numerous awards at national and international festivals. His works include Qana, The Legend of the Afghan Mujahedeen, Silence in the Dark, Disturbing Shadows of War, School, Girls, Abandoned Homes, and more.
