The Six-Hour Marathon

The 6-hour documentary Homeland: Iraq Year Zero directed by Abbas Fahdel will be screened in the Special Screening section of the 9th Iran Int’l Documentary Film Festival, Cinema Verite, next month.

The film, produced in 2015, describes the daily life in Iraq, before and after the U.S invasion in two parts:
For several months, the director filmed a group of Iraqis, mostly members of his family, in their expectation of the war. This first part of the film ends with the start of U.S. strikes on Baghdad.
Americans invades Iraq and the film shows the consequences of this invasion on the daily life of the characters. The film ends with the violent death of one of the main characters: the nephew of the filmmaker, twelve years old boy Haidar.
Homeland: Iraq Year Zero (I,II) has been previously screened in Vision Du Reel of Switzerland, Leipzig, Hamburg, Lisbon, and New York film festivals and has enjoyed a great number of audience.
In his resume, Abbas Fahdel has other films including Motherland, We the Iraqis, and Return to Babel.
The 9th edition of Cinema Verite will be held Dec 13-19, 2015, in Tehran.
