Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili stressed the importance of Cinema Verite in the Iranian cinema industry.

Esmaili made the remarks in the 15th edition of Iran International Documentary Film Festival known as “Cinema Verite” on Thursday.

He added that Cinema Verite shoulder a heavy burden in portraying the society dilemmas and proposing the solution for them.

He added that the society needs hope and the documentarians are duty bound to portray hope in their works.

 Presided by Mohammad Hamidi Moqadam, the festival held in Tehran on Dec 9-16, 2021.

The Documentary and Experimental Film Centre (DEFC) organizes the annual Iran International Documentary Film Festival.

The festival had several sections including National, International, Martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani Award, Martyr Avini Prize, Special Screenings, Portrait, Mirror of a festival, Focus on a country, Panorama, Workshop, and Doc Market.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the major Iranian international festival for documentary films was held with a limited number of guests and audience at Tehran’s Charsu Cineplex.
